Tell us a little bit about yourself
I am a 26 years old girl living in Mexico city, a city of magic but with a lot of economic and violence problems. Anyway is the best place to live because is a honest city I would say.
When did you begin creating art?
I start writing short stories when I was about 15 years old in highschool, but all this thing about images came from my therapist advice. He told me to find a way to express my anger and sadness. I found the way with digital media im 2004 a bad year for me because I quit my job on an art gallery here in Mexico and I got very depressed.
What mediums, software, or equipment do you use?
I use my lovely computer with Photoshop CS, Apophysis for textures, sometimes but rarely Poser 6 and a wacom tablet.
What's been the biggest highlight of your artistic career to date?
It didn´t happen yet, this is my hobbie, but sometimes I wonder if I can get some succes on this I really enjoy doing this.
Do you create other styles of art, other than dark art?
It depends, If I am happy at all like maniac I can´t create, but sometimes the images result is less dark and more romantic but even in those cases there are no brighty and sunny colors on there. It is simply not on my genes.
Have you had any formal artistic training?
Not at all, I studied history of art at the college but never tought about create some "art" by my self.
Who are your artistic inspirations?
I grow up watching music videos, so I have to say that I love the work of Floria Sigismondi and Samuel Bayer, also my inspiration come from musicians specially from the gothic wave in Germany like Lacrimosa, and Wolfsheim. But I admit that the viceroyal art in my country is kind of creppy and very inspiring, specially the popular art hidden in the old churches.
When you're not creating art, what are you spending your time on?
I work on History research and teaching history for kids, I am not a teacher but I am envolved on the precess of making text books and multimerdia contents for the goberment in my country. We are a young generation trying to save our identity trough the education.
What do you say to the people who say that dark art is nothing more than shock value and will never be found in a credible gallery or art collection?
Well people always think that art must be beautiful but the art is about emotions, if they don´t see that they are wrong or are so regular that scares me and make me sick. There are wonderfull collections of art specially photography wich don´t shows beauty and they are valorated. I always talk about those issues with the people who ask me about it.
Any plans for the future?
Shure! Keep creating even if it just for my own pleasure, keep with my career on History research and who knows?
